Why "donor software" and "volunteer software" searches almost never overlap
Little Green Light, DonorPerfect, Bloomerang, Eleo, DonorDock, and Keela were all built donor-first — fundraising and gift tracking is the core product, and volunteer tracking is either a shallow bolt-on or missing entirely. Flip it around and the same pattern holds: Volgistics, Track It Forward, SignUpGenius, POINT, and Timecounts were built volunteer-first, with no donor or donation tracking of any kind. Review sites and "best of" roundups mostly inherit this split — one list for donor CRMs, a separate list for volunteer tools — because that's genuinely how most of the category is built, not because nobody needs both.
The two products actually built to do both
DonorSnap is the closest real analog to Briskly's scope — a genuine donor CRM with membership management, event registration, and volunteer tracking included, not gated behind a separate purchase. It's also the more expensive, more established option: $50/month at the entry tier, rising with contact count, plus a $200 one-time setup fee covering data conversion and training. If your organization wants a longer-established product and the setup fee and higher monthly cost aren't a blocker, it's a legitimate alternative worth knowing about.
Golden Volunteer is approaching the same combined scope from the opposite direction — volunteer management first, with AI tooling to convert engaged volunteers into recurring donors. That donor-conversion functionality sits entirely behind its Enterprise tier, which is custom-quoted and sales-gated — both its free tier and its $100/month Professional tier show no AI fundraising tools in Golden's own feature comparison. For straightforward donor record-keeping (not AI-assisted conversion), it isn't a fit today.
Where the marketing outruns the product
SignUpGenius now markets combining volunteer signups and donations on one page, which sounds like the same combined scope — but the "donor management" it refers to is an activity feed of who donated, liked, or commented, not a persistent donor database. There's no giving history per donor, no segmentation, no lapsed-donor reporting, and no record that survives past a single campaign. It's a real, cheap option if you only need to run one-off giving campaigns alongside volunteer signups — it isn't a donor CRM.
Pricing and feature claims checked directly against each vendor's own site: DonorSnap and Sumac 2026-07-31 and 2026-08-03, Golden Volunteer and SignUpGenius Donations 2026-08-03. Vendor pricing and feature gating change — confirm current terms directly before assuming any of the above still holds.
Briskly tracks donors and volunteers as equal, first-class parts of the same $19/month plan — no setup fee, no add-on to unlock either side.
